Project Overview

Spotlight is a mobile app designed to help international students discover local events, access student discounts, and build social connections in a new city. The goal was to create a simple, student-focused platform that combines event discovery, booking, and offers in one place.

Goals

• Make local events easy to find

• Simplify booking and navigation

The project began with research into the challenges international students face when adapting to a new environment. I conducted competitor analysis, developed personas, mapped user flows, and created wireframes before building high-fidelity prototypes in Figma. The design focused on clarity, minimal steps, and an approachable visual style.

• Event hosting and sharing

• Navigation support to event locations

Challenges

The main challenge was integrating multiple features, events, booking, discounts, and hosting, without overwhelming users. This was addressed by structuring content clearly and reducing friction in core tasks.

Outcome

Spotlight delivers a streamlined experience that improves event discoverability and supports social integration. The final design balances usability with a welcoming visual approach, making it easy for students to engage with local activities.
